Columbia Cup Update
The format for the Columbia Cup will be a regular observed Trials on both Saturday and Sunday. We have sections set up for Novice, Intermediate, and Sr. Intermediate in the morning with a 10:00 start time on Saturday (9:00 on Sunday). The afternoon classes are Advanced, Sr. Advanced and Expert. The Sr. Advanced class will ride a few of the Expert splits. The sections are set up for everyone to have fun, what the heck, this event doesn’t count in any of the club point standings. If you’ve been thinking about riding up a class, this might be a good opportunity to try that. We have four sections set up on the Buffalo Point property, then you go back through the pits across the road and there are five sections up on Observatory Hill and the final “stadium” section back at the pits. It will be real easy for spectators to get around and watch all of the sections. On Sunday there will be a Gate Section and you will have a chance to earn credits against your score. We will give you and update on the Gate Section later this week. There is a PDF version of the poster on www.pugetsoundtrialers.com. Check the PST web site for additional updates (it is kind of tough posting the info on all three web sites). Hope to see all of you there – Mark & Don

First off I want to thank Mark Palmer, Mike Jordan and Nick Jones for helping Mark Lawson and I set up the event last weekend. Apparently Palmer didn't get tired enough when setting up his event! He's a mad man. So what's in store for you should you make the trip? Oh it's going to be killer! The camping is nice and level green pastures with a river running close by. Town is very close if you need anything. But the best part of it all is the riding! Does anyone remember the stadium section at the world round in Goldendale? Well we found a few of those rocks...... you'll have to make the trip to find out how were using them. The gate section is going to be absolutely the coolest. There is even talk about opening it up for practice. We will be riding on private and city land thanks to Mark Lawson's efforts with local land owners and the Mayor of Goldendale. Goldendale is making efforts to get the offroad community to their city. The land owner is an avid motorcycle enthusist who runs a huge GP track just outside of town. So as a way of saying thanks to the town and landowner I would encourage you all to come to Goldendale and ride this event. Shop in their stores, buy their gas, stay in their hotels and thank the locals for letting us host this event. We have all wanted a place to ride that we like to call our own and Goldendale is inviting us with open arms. How cool is that? And lets not forget that all proceeds of this event are going to send our best riders to Europe and compete in Trials des Nation. Mark your calendar and make the trip! See you there.

Sollie's Event had to be moved because of the Mud and he's still in the process of having it logged. Should be more rocks opened up when he's done though.

Next even April 30th.

Chris, it depends on your price range. The Beta 50's and 80's seem to be real good for the younger kids depinding on size, also the old ty 80's are pretty good starter bikes but may not be easy to find. You might want to check with Al Damm, I think he had (2) Beta 50's in his shop this week.

Jim Sold Chad Redmans old Gas Gas 80 to a kid in Walla Walla area who doesn't ride anymore, might be able to track that bike down.

I'll be in Connell the 11th and 12th to set up sections. Will someone else be there with a trials kit, and time to help?

Are any of you coming to the USGP/Nationals in Tennessee in May?

I was browsing the event albums, and did not see too many Shercos!

Anyhow, check our club's website for information regarding the happening back here in May. The site can be found by searching setrialsriders.

Don,

No Charge for camping on site. Porta Poties are on site... but all else is primitive. I think the entry fee will be 18 or 20 USD, includes the usual INTA barbecu

I have told the guys to set the Championship sections to be equivlant to what used to be PNTA Expert sections. We set them a little tough last year, but ended up easing them up on the day of the event to accomodate the new change.

Hope the Connell ride was great. Preston and I can't make it until the April ride. I need to buy a new bike for Preston (6 years old). He wants a trials bike but I'm not sure that's the best option. Any thoughts from you experienced riders?
